Fried Mac & Cheese Balls

Prep Time: 30 minutes
Cook Time: 30 minutes
Total Time: 1 hour

Ingredients

  • 2 packages Main St Bistro Baked Macaroni & Cheese
  • 1 cup shredded gouda cheese
  • 2 cups breadcrumbs (regular, panko, or a mix of both)
  • 3 eggs, beaten
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese (1/4 cup)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 32 oz cooking oil
  • Marinara Sauce (Optional for dipping)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine Main St Bistro Baked Macaroni & Cheese (cold, not heated) and gouda cheese.
  2. Mix gently and lightly season with salt and pepper.
  3. Place beaten eggs, flour, and breadcrumbs in 3 separate bowl. Season the flour and breadcrumbs to your liking with salt, pepper, and parsley.
  4. Scoop the mac & cheese mixture by hand and shape it into a ball. You can make these as large or small as you want them to be.
  5. Dip the ball into the egg bowl first, coating it well before dredging in flour. Coat with egg again and then dip into breadcrumbs bowl, creating an even breading. Be sure to do this step quickly , while the mac & cheese mixture is cold so it keeps its shape.
  6. Once all balls are formed store them in the fridge for 10minutes.
  7. Meanwhile, in a large pan or deep fryer, heat your oil.
  8. Fry the mac & cheese balls 4 to 6 at a time (depending on size), and rotating them periodically for even cooking. These should only take a few minutes per side.
  9. Once they're golden brown, remove them and place on a wire rack to cool.
  10. Top with a generous sprinkle of parmesan cheese and some parsley for razzle dazzle. These are great all on their own, or best served with some marinara sauce for dipping! Enjoy!
